Kinguin have lifted the trophy at DreamHack Open Montreal following a 2-0 win (16-14 on Nuke and 16-9 on Dust2) over ENCE in the grand final.

The grand final began with Kinguin picking Nuke, but it was ENCE who got the better start, claiming their T pistol. The Poles responded with a stiff defensive front, which allowed Wiktor "TaZ" Wojtas and co. to earn four on the board to make it 4-1.

A lopsided round from Kinguin gave the Finns the edge to secure their second of the half, which marked the beginning of a good run that saw them reclaim the lead. A firm retake from the Poles restored parity at 5-5 before a huge ace by Paweł "reatz" Jańczak set his team up for another run. ENCE closed the half with a pair of their own, reducing the deficit to a solitary round by halftime.

The second half saw Kinguin came out on top of the second pistol, before ENCE fired back to earn their eighth round of the game. TaZ and his men brushed off the round loss and put their heads down to swiftly get three on the board before the Finns stopped them in their tracks (9-12).

The two sides went back and forth until the very end, but Kinguin were uninterested in playing overtime and bagged the final two rounds of regulation to run out 16-14 victors.

The series then moved on to Dust2, which saw Jacek "MINISE" Jeziak collect a quad-kill to secure his team's T pistol. The following anti-ecos would go Kinguin's way for a 3-0 start before the Finns finally earned their first as CTs. ENCE then made things look easy, locking down three more on the defensive side, with Jani "Aerial" Jussila picking up an ace along the way.

The Poles swung back to even the scoreline 4-4 with a swift plant on A. The two sides kept trading rounds until Kinguin broke free with their stern offense to pile five on the board. It looked as if Kinguin were going to continue their dominance, but a massive triple-kill by Aleksi "Aleksib" Virolainen snatched the last from the Poles for three-round deficit at the end of the half.

ENCE had to settle for second place

A chaotic second pistol came down to a 1vs1 post-plant, where Sami "xseveN" Laasanen was a pixel shy from denying the defuse by Mikołaj "mouz" Karolewski. Kinguin went on to secure an anti-eco, but in the following round, Aleksi "allu" Jalli sniped down four with the AWP, which allowed the Finns to secure two more to further reduce the gap (9-11).

But then ENCE's resistance was broken as a stout defensive display from TaZ and co. shifted the tides towards the Poles, who picked up five straight rounds to hoist the DreamHack Open Montreal trophy.
